From soft plastic and aluminum to hardened steel and hard chrome, we centerless grind a diverse range of materials. On our centerless grinders, any custom grinding requirement can be handled efficiently for prototype or large production runs. We perform both thru-feed and end-feed plunge centerless grinding, offer smooth and super fine finishes up to 4 μin while holding tolerances up to .0001 in.
With the use of many different types of grinding wheels in the production process, we achieve customer specified tolerances, smoothness, and uniformity in every part. Working with diameters from 1/32″ to 2 1/4″ in Bar stock, tubing, shafts, and several other cylindrical components we can a wide variety of parts on our Cincinnati and Supertec grinders.
Centerless grinding accommodates a wide range of materials, from soft plastics and aluminum to hardened steels and hard chrome. By selecting the appropriate grinding wheel type, grit, and bond structure, the process maintains uniformity and surface integrity across different material hardness levels. This flexibility supports components used in automotive assemblies, medical devices, electrical systems, industrial equipment, and other precision driven applications.
Thru feed grinding supports high volume production by continuously feeding parts across the grinding wheel, while plunge grinding is used for components with specific shoulders, steps, or profiles. Auto in feed capability on Cincinnati #2 grinders improves cycle times for plunge operations, making the process suitable for both small batch and large scale orders. Supertec grinders provide quick setup and versatility for shorter runs or varied part geometries.
Cylindrical components such as shafts, pins, tubing, and bar stock benefit from the process due to its ability to maintain uniform diameters and smooth finishes.
Tolerances down to 0.0001 inch and finishes as fine as 4 micro inch can be achieved depending on material and geometry.
Yes. The centerless grinding process supports hardened steel, hard chrome, and other high strength alloys by selecting the appropriate grinding wheel and setup.
Yes. Auto in feed systems and thru feed capability support high volume production, while Supertec grinders allow efficient processing of smaller batches.
Since we opened in 1964 we have and continue to serve a wide variety of industries. In that time we have worked with a wide variety of materials and have faced a wide variety of machining challenges. Let our almost 60 years of problem solving work for you!
